The FSC® Massaranduba ribbed 2′ x 4′ deck tile is made exactly like the smooth version, but uses slats with a ribbed profile on the surface. This ribbed profile has gently rounded ridges that provide a cooler walking surface than the smooth-face tiles. They also catch the light differently for a more pronounced contrast when installed in a parquet pattern. Absolutely comfortable on bare feet, these are also perfect for areas where extra grip is desired.
The wood has reddish tones which will fade in a few seasons to a silver patina (like other woods do), but the original color can be refreshed with pressure-washing to remove the depleted lignum cells on the surface to expose fresh wood. The wood is from an FSC®-certified forest concession, which means it is selectively-harvested, and replanted to grow more forest instead of converted to another use. This is not only good for the environment, but can also be a great advantage for adding LEED points to meet higher-standard Green Building Council standards.
